In the spotlight: Fouad Abdallah

Have you created a special app, do you have a special technique or is there a colleague you admire? What inspires you as a developer? Today, Fouad Abdallah explains what makes his heart beat faster in 5 questions.

  1. Which app did you like to work with?

The Airbnb app. They have a great team of developers from whom I could learn a lot. In addition, I find the revolution they triggered very inspiring. I really love traveling and I used to prefer a hostel rather than a hotel. It is nice that there is an alternative to the two available now.

  1. Which fellow developer would you like to be for a day and why?

That’s easy, Chris Lattner, the developer of the swift programming language. I decided at the beginning of last year to go all the way for swift and I would like a day with his brain walking around, trying to suck in as much of his knowledge as possible.

  1. What are you working on now?

I completed a second version of the RecyQ app last week. The RecyQ app is an initiative of a company in Amsterdam southeast. The RecyQ app contributes to the circulation of waste with the aim of increasing the percentage of separated waste. I also work on a ‘secret’ personal project, which I cannot tell much about at the moment.

  1. What is your dream project? Or where would you like to help?

I would like to contribute to projects in developing countries, where mobile technology facilitates and improves the lives of the local population. There are already many initiatives in the field of, for example, education, health care, banking and agriculture. A good example is Hello tractor.

  1. What are you most proud of?

My parents! Without their constant support and hard work I would not have come so far. On a professional level, I am most proud that, as an iOS trainer, I have been able to help a lot of people make a successful switch to a career as an iOS developer.

  1. Who do you want to see in this place next time?

Daniel Salber is a genius developer who taught me all about programming.
